December News



The December News
Important Dates:
  • December 1 – Kaiser Studio taking candid pictures for the yearbook
  • December 5 – Preview day for the book fair!  It will be open after school from 3:30-6:30
        • Leader in Me Family Night at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria
  • December 6 through December 8 – Book Fair
  • December 8 – “Choose Wisely” assembly at 10:30
  • December 12 – Eagle’s Nest – 2:30 p.m.
  • December 14 -  Oberweis Fundraiser
  • December 16 – Holiday Shop!!! Bagel Friday too!
  • December 20 – Holiday Parties!
  • December 21 – Holiday Sing-A-Long at 9:15-10:00 a.m. Last Day before winter recess
  • Monday, December 5th - Leader in Me Family Night (6:30-8:00)
  • Tuesday, December 20th - Holiday Parties – More info to come
  • December 22-January 2 – Winter Holiday Break
  • January 3 – School resumes

  • iPads should be charged and READY each day!
  • Troy Tech Talks: Tech Talk Revised Schedule.pdf  
  • Reminder: Cell phones, iPods, radios, electronic handheld games, gum chewing, Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are NOT allowed in school.
  • Giving Tree: There are now hearts outlining specific needs on the branches in the main hallway if you are interested in supporting the Troy Union Giving Tree.
  • Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Troy Union from December 5th through December 8th! Students will preview the books on Friday, December 2nd and will come home with their “Wish Lists”. Students will shop during their normal Library specials time throughout the week. A schedule and notice about the details and a book fair flyer will be sent home in the next few weeks, please be on the lookout.  The book fair is a school wide fund raiser and the proceeds from purchases will be used to enhance the physical environment of our Media Center through a flexible seating initiative.  If you would like to sign up to help during the book fair, please sign up using the attached link.  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c44a5ab2fa2f85-december2

  • November 9 – Family Game Night
  • November 10 – iMOVIE due for reading
  • November 17th – Math Test on Chapter 2
  • November 11 – Final Copy of Realistic Fiction due
  • Wednesday, November 16th -  1/2 day in the AM only followed by afternoon/evening conferences (Dismissal at 12:17)
  • Thursday, November 17th - 1/2 day in the AM only followed by afternoon/evening conferences (Dismissal at 12:17)
  • Friday, November 18th - 1/2 day in the AM only (Dismissal at 12:17)
  • Wednesday, November 23rd - Sunday, November 27th: No School (Thanksgiving Break)
  • Monday, December 5th - Leader in Me Family Night (6:30-8:00)
  • Tuesday, December 20th - Holiday Parties – I will notify you of the time in the next newsletter, BUT thank you to Mrs. Delia for volunteering to organize it!

  • Report Cards: Report cards will be available on HAC Monday, November 14th, for students in grades 1-5.  Instructions for HAC are below.  Please make sure to activate your account.  Markings/grades for Art, Gym and Music will also be sent home at the end of the first and second semesters.
o    Login with your HAC username and password. If you do not know your username or password, you can use the Forgot my Username of Password feature.  If you have not yet registered for HAC, please send an email to hacsupport@troy.k12.mi.us that includes your name and the name(s) of your student(s) along with their school name and grade. Within one business day you will receive information to set up your HAC account.
